Provide personal care-related tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical nurse to patients in the comfort of their home or residential living. Care includes but not limited to assistance with taking care of personal hygiene such as dressing, feeding, light housekeeping errands, and other personal care functions.
Certified to perform care with :
Bath (bed, bath, tub, shower) Oral Hygiene (care of the denture, teeth, and mouth) Care of hair (shampoo, dry and comb) Care of nails (except for cutting nails) Skincare/lotion massage Dressing Positioning and turning of patients, toileting
RN approved Certified Health Aide Care:
Non-sterile dressing Urine testing Transfers & ambulation
(use of rehabilitative devices-walker, wheelchair, crutches, cane)
Donning prosthesis Exercise program Use of special equipment Application of binder and other supports Vital signs as ordered (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) Cooling sponge bath Medication schedule/reminding the patient to take medications Simple catheter care inclusive of care of the drainage bag Specimen collection (stool & urine) Change ostomy equipment Simple soaks & ice bag Breast care for the nursing mother Oxygen
Homemaking and Nutritional support – assist with
Home Health Aide must be able to perform meal planning and pre-preparation of meals while following any modified diets. Must be able to feed and serve the patient and record meal intakes as needed. Perform light housekeeping and laundry. Grocery shopping, banking, and essential errands for patients only.
